The Short Story Edit
Whether you’re new to short stories or just need yours to pack the appropriate amount of oomph, I’m ready to help you make it the best it can be.
Pricing: $.05 per word up to 8,000 words.
Turnaround time: 1 week.
What you get: Your document returned to you with my changes tracked (copy edits and developmental edits), plus a multi-page document of additional feedback
The Opening Pages Edit
We only get a few pages to hook readers and agents before they decide doing their laundry is more interesting. I’ll review up to 4,000 words of your opening pages to ensure your novel or short story starts with a bang (proverbial or otherwise).
Pricing: $.05 per word up to 4,000 words or your opening pages (whichever is shorter).
Turnaround time: 1 week.
What you get: Your document returned to you with my changes tracked (copy edits and developmental edits), plus at least one page of additional feedback.
The Synopsis Edit
Want to know if your story’s got solid foundations before you dive into the writing? Need an editor’s eye before you shop the synopsis around? Hand it over! I’ll review up to 1,000 words of your manuscript’s synopsis to ensure it’s got solid plot beats, character arcs, antagonistic forces, and more.
Pricing: $150 for up to 1,000 words, plus $50 for each additional 500 words.
Turnaround time: 2-3 days.
What you get: Your document returned to you with my changes tracked, plus one page of additional feedback.
Office Hours
Feeling stuck? Need someone to help you troubleshoot? Got plot or character questions, or something that doesn’t fit the other categories? Let’s chat. I’ll set aside an hour to go over whatever ails your story.
Pricing: $100 per hour.
Turnaround time: I work with you to find a good time, but usually within a week.
What you get: An hour of my time, shared with you via a Zoom call or a regular, video-less phone call (whichever you prefer).

How does this whole thing work, anyway?
You contact me here (or via the button above). If you like, we schedule a 15-minute call to chat about the project.
You send your file(s). If it looks like I’m a good fit for the story, I’ll edit the first page (or equivalent) and send it back to make sure you’re cool with my style. Don’t like what I sent? No harm, no foul. We part ways. If you DO like what I sent…
I send a proposal outlining the total cost of the project, the time I expect it to take, and exactly what I’ll deliver. You sign, then send 50% of the cost up front. (This prevents both of us from ghosting.)
I get to work!
I share the edited file(s). We have a 15-30 minute chat via Zoom or phone to discuss your questions or comments now that you’ve seen the edits. The final 50% of your quoted price is due within 30 days of edited file delivery.

AI Policy
There are few things I loathe as much as generative AI and LLMs. I will never, ever feed your hard work into any AI program, nor will I ever consult any AI program about your project. All work I return to you is done by my human brain. And hands.
Non-Disclosure Policy
I won’t ever share your ideas or words with anyone else. Your project does not leave my desktop until the files go back to your email with revisions. I keep an archive of past client work, but if you prefer I delete the files once you have them, just let me know.
